Our journey began with a deep connection to Florida. Having visited the state multiple times a year and spending extended periods here, we completely fell in love with the lifestyle, climate, and community. However, during the COVID-19 pandemic, we noticed an increasing concern amongst British ex-pats about how to manage their legal affairs in the UK when travel was restricted. Many found it frustrating to deal with solicitors thousands of miles away, navigating different time zones and regulations with no in-person support.
This sparked the realization that there was a real need for local, personalized legal support for British citizens residing in the USA. Many ex-pats have faced difficulties when handling their UK wills, property sales, and family legal matters, often receiving conflicting advice or struggling to find professionals who understood both UK and US legal systems. TLS was created to fill this gap and provide British ex-pats with reliable, expert legal services from a team that understands their culture and needs.
Many British ex-pats assume their UK will automatically applies in the USA, but this is not the case. UK wills are not valid in the US without additional legal steps, and failing to structure your estate properly can result in serious complications for your beneficiaries. We provide expert guidance to ensure your UK assets and American residency are accounted for in a legally sound will.
If you own assets in the UK but live in the USA, a Power of Attorney is essential to ensure your affairs are managed smoothly if you become unable to handle them yourself. We help British expats set up POAs that work across both legal systems, giving you peace of mind that your financial and healthcare decisions will be in trusted hands.
Handling wills and probate across borders can be incredibly complicated, especially when dealing with UK assets while living in Florida. Our team specializes in cross-border will execution, ensuring that the process is handled efficiently, reducing stress and delays for your loved ones.
Family legal issues become even more challenging when one parent is in the UK and the other in the USA. Whether it’s child custody, divorce, or financial settlements, we offer expert legal advice to help families navigate international challenges.
If you’ve permanently relocated to the USA but still own a home in the UK, selling it can be a lengthy and confusing process. Our property experts simplify the transaction, working in partnership with an established UK law firm to ensure the sale is handled efficiently, legally, and with minimal hassle.
TLS was founded by experienced UK legal professionals who bring their extensive knowledge and dedication to the British expat community.
We are excited to announce that our Stateside offices will also be opening soon, and we will be available for face-to-face appointments shortly thereafter. This means British expats in Florida will finally have local, in-person legal support for their UK matters.

As British ex-pats ourselves, we understand the legal and financial hurdles that come with living abroad. Many UK-based law firms lack experience in dealing with clients living overseas, and US-based firms often lack knowledge of UK legal requirements. This gap can lead to miscommunication, costly errors, and legal complications. TLS was created to solve these issues by providing:
